Tashalie's Story

The energetic little first grader would rush to finish her work and grab her coloring book from the shelves. She considered the book too thin, and needed more pages towards the end of term one; she had a “FOMO” moment. These are among her early memories of becoming a creative. Tashalie Vorster is now a qualified Graphic Designer. Having studied at Vega School of Design, she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design Cum Laude in 2017. Proudly winning, in the same year, Vega’s Graphic Design Pencil Award for being their best student.

 

Her next adventure was when she completed her Honors in Design degree with distinction and received the top student award in 2021 at Inscape Pretoria. During this time, she became a freelancer and part-time lecturer for Visual Literacy at Vega School Pretoria. Furthermore, was assigned as an Academic Content Developer for Print and Online platforms. During this year she was urged to keep on learning, so she completed a Feature Journalism short course online, through the University of Cape Town.

Her design universe revolves around prints that inspire and web creations that enchant. She delights in detail and notices the smallest elements of perfection. Her hunger for knowledge drives her to stay abreast with the latest craze, and her passion as a designer breaks forth in her influential creations. She thrives in packaging design where she won two awards and one certificate for redesigning a package design.

 

She builds her reputation by leaving her mark on any design that she touches. She was the obvious choice to be the student representative at Vega School.

Tashalie designed banners with hands dripping golden paint to depict the creativity that flows from within designers onto their creations. They selected her designs out of all that entered the promotional campaign to exhibit the best of the best at Vega’s Exhibition Day.

The first ripple into the ocean of design came to the fore, when she completed her internship at Zero Plus Design and Printers, opening her to the world of Coral Draw and the many ways of printing.

​

Excitement flowed through her veins for the new opportunity as a graphic design position at Brand Et Al. Her outgoing personality resulted in a new position created for her. The glamorous title of Marketing and Design executive was given to her to be ‘THE BRAND AMBASSADOR’ collaborating with multiple brands such as Makro, Redefine Properties, and AVBOB.

Her long-term goal is to become a full-time design educator and influencer, and therefore create a legacy. Still living in Pretoria, at age 27 years, she optimistically continues to aim for the stars, and beyond into the design cosmos. With her current position, as the design executive at Knox Specialized Services Pretoria. Her upcoming venture is to complete her Master's in Design degree and grow further in becoming an industry leader in design. She feels driven to achieve this, when considering that her name means, “Born a leader”.
